Kifunensine is an alkaloid produced by Kitasatosporia kifunense, kifunensine is a potent inhibitor of the mannosidase I enzyme (50 to 100 times more potent than deoxymannojirimycin). While ineffective against mannosidase II or the endoplasmic reticulum alpha-mannosidase, it has also been shown to weakly inhibit arylmannosidase.1,2
