Gycocholic acid, sodium salt is obtained from the steroid, cholic acid. It is chemically identical to the natural steroid produced in the liver of many animal species.
NZP (our large-scale synthesis partners) manufacture the sodium salt of glycocholic acid from extracted from cattle bile, a by-product of the meat processing industry.
Glycocholic acid is prepared from certified material from GBR 1 and GBR 2 countries.
The sodium salt of glycocholic acid is often used as a biological detergent.
